Koložvárska kapusta, a sauerkraut casserole with ground meat, rice, and smoked sausage, is a traditional baked dish that Slovak families have made for generations. Sauté the sauerkraut with onion, ground pork, smoked sausage, garlic, and paprika, mix with cooked rice, and transfer to a baking dish. Pour sour cream over the top and bake for 15 to 20 minutes at 180 °C (350 °F). The recipe makes four servings.

Instructions
Tip: tap a step to mark it as done.
Sauté the chopped onion in hot fat. Add the drained sauerkraut, ground pork, salt, ground black pepper, diced smoked sausage, sweet paprika, and crushed garlic.
Stir the cooked rice into the mixture and transfer everything to a greased baking dish.
Pour the sour cream over the top and bake in an oven preheated to 180 °C (350 °F) for 15 to 20 minutes.
Tip: Cook the rice until slightly firm, as it will absorb the juices from the sauerkraut in the baking dish without becoming mushy. Stir the sour cream until smooth before pouring it over the casserole so it spreads more easily.
