This cup-measured poppy seed bublanina, a Slovak fruit cake, is a quick sheet cake that requires just one bowl and a whisk besides the baking pan. Ground poppy seeds, semi-coarse wheat flour, sugar, milk, oil, eggs, and baking powder are measured using a cup and mixed together. The batter is poured into a greased and floured 28 × 40 cm baking pan and topped with fruit.
Use any fruit you like; fresh plums work especially well. Bake the cake for about half an hour at 180 °C (350 °F).

Instructions
Tip: tap a step to mark it as done.
- Place all the dry ingredients in a bowl first, then pour in the liquid ingredients and add the eggs and baking powder. Mix with a whisk and pour the batter into a greased and floured baking pan.
- Arrange fresh pitted, diced plums on top and bake in an oven preheated to 180 °C (350 °F) for about half an hour. Check the center of the cake with a skewer to see whether it is baked through.
- Let the cake cool slightly, then cut into pieces.
Tip: Use freshly ground poppy seeds, as older ground seeds quickly turn rancid and would give the cake a bitter taste. Cut the plums just before baking so they do not release too much juice.
