This no-bake quark cake with gelatin has two layers: a light vanilla layer and a dark cocoa layer. The filling is made with smooth quark (soft curd cheese), sour cream, and sugar, then set with gelatin dissolved in hot milk. Preparation takes about 15 minutes; the cake spends the rest of the time in the refrigerator. Decorate it with nuts or fresh fruit before serving.

Instructions
Tip: tap a step to mark it as done.
Pour the hot milk over the gelatin and let it bloom. Meanwhile, mix the sour cream with the quark, granulated sugar, and vanilla sugar. Add the gelatin mixture and mix thoroughly.
Divide the filling in half and stir the cocoa powder into one half. Pour the vanilla filling into a cake pan and place it in the freezer for a few minutes so it sets faster and the cocoa layer will not sink into it.
After a few minutes, pour the cocoa filling over the vanilla layer and refrigerate the cake until set. Decorate with nuts or fruit before serving.
Tip: Dissolve the granulated sugar in the hot milk along with the gelatin, or replace it with powdered sugar; in the cold filling, granulated sugar would remain undissolved and taste gritty.
