Tortellini with cheese sauce is a quick dinner made with fresh stuffed pasta from the refrigerated section. The cream and Parmesan sauce comes together in just a few minutes, while ham and peas make it a filling meal.

Instructions
Tip: tap a step to mark it as done.
Make the sauce
10 minCut the ham into thin strips and chop the garlic. Sauté the ham in the butter for about 2 minutes, then add the garlic and peas and cook together for 3 minutes. Pour in the cream and simmer for 3 minutes, until the sauce thickens slightly.
Cook the tortellini
5 minMeanwhile, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the tortellini according to the package directions, usually 2–3 minutes for fresh tortellini. Drain, reserving 1/2 cup of the pasta cooking water.
Combine
3 minRemove the skillet with the sauce from the heat and stir in most of the Parmesan. Add the tortellini, toss to coat, and thin with the pasta cooking water as needed. Season with salt and pepper.
Serve
Serve the tortellini immediately, sprinkled with the remaining Parmesan.
Tip: Stir the Parmesan into the sauce off the heat, as a vigorous boil can cause it to clump. Thin a thick sauce with pasta cooking water, not milk.
