Make air fryer french fries from fresh potatoes with just one tablespoon of oil. Soak the cut potatoes first to release their starch, then dry them and air-fry at 200 °C (400 °F) for about 20 minutes.

Instructions
Tip: tap a step to mark it as done.
Cut the potatoes
10 minPeel the potatoes and cut them into fries about 1 cm thick. Keep them as uniform as possible so they cook evenly.
Soak and dry
10 minSoak the fries in cold water for 10 minutes to remove starch. Drain and dry thoroughly with a clean kitchen towel.
Season
Place the dried fries in a bowl, drizzle with the oil, and sprinkle with the salt and sweet paprika. Toss to coat lightly on all sides.
Cook in the air fryer
20 minPreheat the air fryer to 200 °C (400 °F). Add the fries to the basket in no more than two layers and cook for 18–20 minutes. Shake the basket halfway through so they cook evenly. They are done when golden with crisp edges.
Serve
Serve the fries immediately while they are crisp.
Tip: Don't overcrowd the basket: a thick layer of fries will steam instead of roast and won't turn crisp. Cook larger quantities in two batches.
