These cup-measured doughnuts are a quick alternative to traditional yeast doughnuts, made with choux pastry and no yeast. Measure the ingredients with a 250 ml cup: stir a cup of all-purpose flour into boiling salted milk, then add three eggs. Scoop the dough with a spoon dipped in oil and fry the doughnuts on all sides until golden brown. Sprinkle with sugar while still warm. They are especially popular for Fašiangy, Slovakia's pre-Lenten carnival season.

Instructions

Tip: tap a step to mark it as done.

  1. Bring the milk and salt to a boil, then mix in the flour and eggs, preferably with a hand mixer. Heat the oil in a pot.
  2. Scoop the dough with a spoon dipped in oil and fry the doughnuts in the oil on all sides until golden brown.
  3. Sprinkle the doughnuts with sugar while still warm and serve.

Tip: Add the flour to the boiling milk all at once and stir until the dough pulls away from the sides of the pot. Then work the eggs into the slightly cooled dough one at a time; they would scramble in hot dough.
