These garlic pizza breadsticks are made with a simple yeast dough of flour, water, yeast, salt, and a pinch of sugar—the same dough used for pizza. Roll out the risen dough, cut it into strips about 3 cm wide, brush with garlic mixed with olive oil, and twist. Bake for just a few minutes in a very hot oven and serve with a dipping sauce.

Make the dough
Combine the flour, lukewarm water, crumbled yeast, salt, and sugar and knead into a smooth dough. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size.
Shape the breadsticks
Crush the garlic and mix with the olive oil. Roll out the risen dough to about 5 mm thick and cut into strips about 3 cm wide. Brush with the garlic oil, twist each strip several times, and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake
Bake in an oven preheated to its highest temperature, 250–270 °C (480–520 °F), for 5–8 minutes, until the breadsticks are golden. Watch them closely. Serve with a dipping sauce of your choice.
Tip: If the dough is too stiff, add a tablespoon or two of water. Garlic mixed with oil will not turn bitter as quickly in a hot oven as garlic on its own.
