Pork ribs baked in garlic and onion sauce need just a little prep before finishing in the oven. The ribs are pounded, seasoned, coated in all-purpose flour, and browned until golden. They are then placed in a baking dish with bay leaves and covered completely with a thin sauce made from onion, garlic, flour, and broth in the same oil used for browning. Bake under foil for 45 minutes at 180°C (350°F), then uncovered for another 10 minutes. This dish works equally well for an everyday dinner or a more festive meal.

Instructions

Trim the ribs, pat dry with a paper towel, pound with a meat mallet, and season with salt and pepper. Coat in all-purpose flour and brown in hot oil until golden. Transfer the browned ribs to an oiled baking dish and add several bay leaves.
Slice the onion into strips and sauté in the oil used to brown the ribs. Add the chopped garlic and 4 tbsp flour. Dissolve the bouillon cube in 1/2 l hot water, pour into the pan, and season with salt. The sauce should not be too thick.
Pour the sauce over the ribs so they are completely submerged, then add the white wine. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes at 180°C (350°F). Remove the foil and bake for another 10 minutes.
If desired, add ground paprika to the sauce to taste. Serve with rice, pasta, or mashed potatoes.
Tip: Briefly cook the flour with the onion, then gradually pour in the hot broth, stirring constantly to keep the sauce free of lumps. Remove the bay leaves before serving.
