Savory pear, Niva blue cheese, and walnut muffins combine sweet fruit, bold cheese, and crunchy nuts in a lightly salted batter. Lightly stir the dry and wet ingredients together, fold in diced pear and crumbled Niva, a Czech blue cheese, and sprinkle each muffin with chopped walnuts before baking. Bake in an oven preheated to 200 °C (400 °F) for about 20 minutes. Serve warm, perhaps with wine at a summer gathering with friends.

Instructions
Tip: tap a step to mark it as done.
Cut the pear into small dice, crumble the Niva, and coarsely chop the walnuts.
In a bowl, stir together the flour, salt, pepper, and baking powder. In another bowl, combine the milk, oil, and egg. Gently stir the two mixtures together without using a mixer, then fold in the pears and Niva.
Grease a muffin pan or line it with paper liners. Fill the cups 2/3 full with batter and sprinkle each muffin with chopped walnuts.
Bake at 200 °C (400 °F) for about 20 minutes, until the muffins are puffed and golden. Let cool slightly and serve warm.
Tip: Niva is salty on its own, so add only a pinch of salt to the batter. Choose a firm pear, since an overly soft one would get mashed during mixing and make the batter wet.
