Shopping list for the snacks
Ingredients from 5 recipes for Monday to Friday (October 19 – 23, 2026) added up in the amounts given in the recipes – a tray of savory pastries or muffins often makes snacks for more days. Add the bread for the spreads yourself. If an ingredient comes in several units, “about” is the total based on the average weight of a piece or a spoonful.

How to pack a snack so it keeps until break time
- Spreads, meat, ham, eggs and dairy products should not stay unrefrigerated for more than 2 hours, or more than 1 hour on a hot day above 32 °C (90 °F). Pack them in an insulated lunch bag with two ice packs (one under the food, one on top) or with an ice pack and a frozen bottle of water. A paper bag does not keep food cold. Based on the advice of the US food safety agency USDA FSIS.
- Whole fruit, hard cheese, bread, savory pastries and cookies keep without refrigeration.
- Spread the topping on the bread in the morning or pack it separately in a box, so the bread does not get soggy.
- If the school has a fridge, put the snack in it first thing in the morning.
