This Slovak yeast spread is made with fresh yeast sautéed in olive oil with onion, then cooked with two beaten eggs. Once cooled, the mixture is combined with butter, chopped hard-boiled egg, mustard, salt, and pepper.
Cooking the yeast removes its characteristic aroma and gives it a slightly meaty flavor. Known in Slovak as droždiová nátierka or kvasnicová pomazánka, this spread is served on bread, much like Slovak pork crackling spread.

Instructions
Tip: tap a step to mark it as done.
Cook the yeast
Hard-boil one egg and let it cool. Sauté the finely chopped onion in the oil until softened, then add the crumbled yeast and cook until it loses its characteristic yeasty aroma and begins to brown lightly. Pour in two beaten eggs and cook, stirring constantly, until thick.
Finish the spread
Let the mixture cool, then stir in the softened butter, finely chopped hard-boiled egg, mustard, salt, and pepper. Mix well and refrigerate for 20 minutes.
Spread on bread or rolls.
Tip: Cook the yeast over low heat, stirring constantly, as high heat would cause it to burn and become bitter. Keep the spread refrigerated and use within two days.
