Baked pork cutlets with garlic sour cream and tomatoes are an alternative to fried cutlets, with no breading or frying required. The pounded cutlets are coated on both sides with sour cream mixed with crushed garlic, or with mayonnaise instead of sour cream. Onion and tomato slices go on top, followed by grated cheese. The cutlets are baked on a parchment-lined baking sheet at 200°C (400°F).

Instructions
Tip: tap a step to mark it as done.
Pound the cutlets and season with salt and pepper to taste.
Stir the crushed garlic into the sour cream or mayonnaise and spread the mixture over both sides of the cutlets. Place the cutlets on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Slice the onion and tomatoes into rounds and arrange them on the cutlets, with the onion first, followed by the tomatoes.
Bake for 20 minutes at 200°C (400°F). Remove the cutlets, sprinkle with the cheese, and return to the oven for another 10–15 minutes.
Tip: Slice the onion into thin rounds; thick slices will not soften during baking. Choose firm, fleshy tomatoes, which release less juice and keep the cutlets from becoming watery under the cheese.
