Chocolate truffles with dried cherries are small confections made with dark chocolate, cream, and butter, mixed with ground almonds, toasted hazelnuts, and brandy-soaked cherries. Let the mixture firm up at room temperature, then shape it into balls and roll them in cocoa powder, coconut, sliced almonds, or chopped nuts. They also make a sweet gift.

Cherries
Chop the dried cherries into small pieces with a knife, mix with the brandy, and let soak for at least half an hour.
Chocolate
Break the chocolate into a small saucepan, add the cream and butter, and heat over low heat, stirring constantly, until smooth. Do not let the mixture boil. Let cool slightly.
Truffle mixture
Drain any excess alcohol from the cherries, then stir the cherries, almonds, and hazelnuts into the chocolate. Let the mixture firm up at room temperature until it can be shaped.
Shape the truffles
Using your palms, shape the mixture into firm, hazelnut-sized balls and roll them in cocoa powder. Place in small paper candy cups and let set in a cool place.
Tip: If the mixture is sticky, lightly dust your hands with cocoa powder. For children, replace the brandy with orange juice.
