These homemade chocolates with quark filling take just five ingredients and an ordinary ice cube tray. Brush the tray twice with melted chocolate, freezing it for 15 minutes after each coat. Then fill the shells with smooth quark (a soft curd cheese) beaten with butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla sugar, and cover with the remaining chocolate.

The finished chocolates set in the freezer for an hour. They are great for sharing with family or giving as a gift.

Instructions

Tip: tap a step to mark it as done.

  1. Beat the quark, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla sugar with an electric mixer until smooth. Meanwhile, melt the chocolate in a double boiler.

  2. Brush the inside of each ice cube tray cavity with chocolate and freeze for 15 minutes. Brush with a second coat of chocolate and freeze for another 15 minutes.

  3. Fill the set chocolate shells with the quark filling and cover with the remaining chocolate. Freeze for 60 minutes until set.

Tip: Keep the filling just below the rim of each chocolate shell to leave room for a chocolate lid that seals it completely. Store the quark-filled chocolates in the refrigerator.
