Onion and garlic syrup with honey is a simple homemade syrup traditionally prepared in winter. It is made by simmering water with sugar, chopped onion and garlic, ginger, thyme, marjoram, lemon juice, and lemon tea. After straining and cooling, stir in the honey. Omit the ginger for children, and remember that honey should not be given to children younger than 12 months.

Instructions

  1. Chop the garlic and onion, then combine the ingredients for the first syrup, except the honey, and simmer for approximately 10 minutes. Strain the syrup, let it cool, then stir in the honey. Sip throughout the day.

Tip: When straining, press the cooked onion and garlic against the strainer with a spoon to squeeze out plenty more syrup. Store the finished syrup in a sealed jar in the refrigerator.
