Garlic milk is a traditional homemade warm drink made with milk, water, and crushed garlic cloves. The mixture is brought to a boil and simmered over low heat for about five minutes, taking care not to let the milk boil over. After removing it from the heat, sweeten the drink with sugar. Drink it warm, but not hot. It is most often prepared during the winter months.

Instructions

Tip: tap a step to mark it as done.

  1. Pour the milk and water into a saucepan and add the crushed garlic. Bring to a boil, then simmer over low heat for about 5 minutes. Stir occasionally and watch carefully so the milk does not boil over.

  2. Remove the saucepan from the heat, add the sugar, and stir. Drink the garlic milk warm, but not too hot.

Tip: Crush the cloves with the flat side of a knife so you can easily fish them out after cooking. Pour the milk into mugs through a strainer to catch small pieces of garlic and any skin that forms on the milk.
