These apple dumplings are whole peeled apples filled with walnuts, honey, and cinnamon, wrapped in puff pastry and baked until golden. The apples soften in their own juices in the oven while the pastry puffs up and becomes crisp. Serve them warm, dusted with powdered sugar.

Prepare the apples
Preheat the oven to 190 °C (375 °F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Peel the apples and remove the cores with an apple corer or a narrow knife, keeping the apples whole. Drizzle with lemon juice to prevent browning.
Fill the apples
Mix the chopped walnuts with the honey and cinnamon. Spoon the filling into the hollow centers of the apples and spread any remaining filling over the tops.
Wrap in pastry
Cut each sheet of puff pastry into two squares. Place an apple in the center of each square, bring the corners up to the top of the apple, and press them together. Seal the seams along the sides so the apple is completely wrapped.
Bake
35 minTransfer the wrapped apples to the baking sheet, brush with beaten egg, and bake at 190 °C (375 °F) for 30–35 minutes, until the pastry is golden brown and the apples are tender when pierced with a skewer.
Serve
10 minLet cool for 10 minutes, dust with powdered sugar, and serve warm.
Tip: Choose small, firm apples with a tart flavor. A large apple may not soften in the center before the pastry gets too dark.
