These mini baguette pizzas are baguette rounds spread with garlic butter and pizza sauce, then topped with red onion, cheese, and Čabajka, a Hungarian-style paprika sausage. Stack the topped slices and fit the stacks snugly into a baking dish. Bake covered with foil for 15 minutes at 180 °C (350 °F), until the cheese melts, then uncover and bake for another 10 minutes until golden. The butter keeps them soft inside and crisp outside. Sprinkle with parsley and serve immediately.

Instructions

Tip: tap a step to mark it as done.

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 °C (350 °F) and melt the butter with the garlic. Cut the baguette into rounds about 2–2.5 cm thick and brush each with a little garlic butter. Reserve some of the butter.
  2. Spread each round with a little pizza sauce, sprinkle with onion and cheese, and add a few slices of Čabajka sausage. Stack the rounds, transferring each stack of 6–7 rounds to a baking dish. Repeat with all the baguette rounds.
  3. Brush the sides of the baguette stacks with the remaining butter, cover the dish with foil, and bake for 15 minutes, until the cheese melts. Remove the foil and bake for another 10 minutes until golden. Sprinkle the baked mini pizzas with chopped parsley and serve immediately.

Tip: You can use a day-old baguette; it is easier to slice and will not get soggy under the sauce. If the dish is larger, support the outer stacks with crumpled foil to keep them from tipping over.
