This thick hot chocolate made with dark chocolate and milk is a winter drink so thick you can eat it with a spoon. Heat the milk with chopped chocolate, then thicken it with cocoa and a little cornstarch, which needs only a brief simmer.
Adjust the sweetness with sugar and add cinnamon for a Christmas aroma.

Instructions
Tip: tap a step to mark it as done.
Mix the cornstarch
Mix the cornstarch and cocoa with 200 ml of cold milk from the total amount until smooth and free of lumps.
Melt the chocolate
Pour the remaining milk into a saucepan and add the chocolate, broken into pieces, the sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Heat, stirring constantly, until the chocolate has completely melted and the milk is hot.
Thicken
Pour the cornstarch mixture into the hot milk and bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Simmer over low heat for 2 minutes, until the hot chocolate thickens. If it is too thick, thin it with a little milk.
Serve
Pour into mugs and serve hot. The hot chocolate will continue to thicken slightly as it sits.
Tip: Stir the cornstarch and cocoa mixture again just before pouring it into the hot milk. The cornstarch settles to the bottom of the bowl while the chocolate melts, and some would otherwise be left behind.
