This glossy cocoa cake glaze is made with just four ingredients: milk, cocoa powder, sugar, and butter. Heat the milk with the cocoa powder and sugar over low heat, stirring constantly until everything dissolves, then add the butter and heat for about five more minutes. Pour the warm glaze over the cake. Once set, it stays glossy and does not crack or crumble when sliced.

Instructions

Tip: tap a step to mark it as done.

  1. Heat all the ingredients except the butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir constantly and do not leave the mixture unattended.
  2. Once the ingredients are combined and fully dissolved, add the butter. Heat for about 5 more minutes until thoroughly combined, stirring constantly to keep the mixture from scorching.
  3. Pour the warm glaze over the cake.

Tip: Make sure the cake is completely cool, pour all the glaze into the center at once, and spread it with just a few strokes of a spatula. Repeatedly going over the glaze as it sets will dull its shine.
