Baked pasta with ham, known in Czech as šunkofleky, is a classic of Czech home cooking and school cafeterias. Toss cooked pasta squares with ham and onion sautéed in butter, pour over eggs beaten with milk and sour cream, and bake until golden on top.
In Czechia, this dish is served with a sour pickle.

Cook the pasta
15 minCook the pasta squares in salted water for 8–10 minutes, 1 minute less than the package directs, so they stay slightly firm. Drain and let any excess water drip off.
Sauté the onion and ham
10 minPreheat the oven to 190 °C (375 °F). Finely chop the onion and sauté it in 30 g of the butter until translucent. Add the finely diced ham, cook for 2 minutes, and toss with the pasta.
Prepare the egg mixture
5 minWhisk the eggs with the milk and sour cream. Season with salt, pepper, and a pinch of nutmeg.
Bake
30 minGrease a baking dish with butter, spread the pasta and ham in it, and pour the egg mixture evenly over the top. Dot with small pieces of the remaining butter and bake at 190 °C (375 °F) for 25–30 minutes, until the eggs are set and the pasta is golden on top.
Serve
5 minLet stand for 5 minutes, cut into portions, and serve with pickles.
Tip: You can also make šunkofleky with leftover smoked meat. If you can't find pasta squares, use wide noodles broken into pieces 2–3 cm long.
