Cinnamon rolls with vanilla pudding glaze are yeast-raised rolls filled with butter, cinnamon, and cane sugar, then topped with a pudding glaze after baking. The dough, made with milk, butter, and fresh yeast, rises for an hour before being rolled out to a thickness of 0.5 cm, spread with filling, and cut into strips about 2.5 cm wide, which are then rolled up. Bake them at 180°C (350°F) and serve for breakfast, as a snack, or with coffee.

Instructions

Tip: tap a step to mark it as done.

  1. Heat the milk and butter on the stove until the butter melts. Sift the flour into a bowl, add the egg and salt, and make a well in the center. Carefully pour the milk into the well, crumble in the yeast, and add the sugar.

  2. Let rest for 10 minutes. Then knead into a smooth, uniform dough, cover with a kitchen towel, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.

  3. Transfer the risen dough to a floured work surface and roll it out to about 0.5 cm thick. Spread with the butter, sprinkle with a mixture of the cinnamon and sugar, and cut into strips about 2.5 cm wide. Roll each strip into a spiral.

  4. Grease a baking pan with butter and arrange the rolls snugly next to one another. Brush the tops with the beaten egg yolk and let rest for another 20–30 minutes. Then bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 30 minutes.

  5. Cook the milk, pudding mix, and sugar into a pudding and pour it over the baked rolls. Finish with a dusting of powdered sugar, if desired.

Tip: Pour the pudding glaze over the rolls while it is still warm and fluid so it seeps between them and into the spirals. If it thickens, thin it with a tablespoon of milk.
