These savory yeast rolls are similar to pizza rolls and perfect for anyone who enjoys sausage and cheese. The dough, made with milk, egg, and oil, is rolled out, spread with a mixture of ground smoked sausage, garlic, and softened Hera baking margarine, then topped with grated boiled potatoes and cheese. The dough is rolled up, cut diagonally into pieces, brushed with egg yolk, and baked until golden brown. These rolls are great for parties or outings.

Instructions

Tip: tap a step to mark it as done.

  1. Make the dough

Stir the yeast into a little of the lukewarm milk. Mix both flours with the salt, then add the yeast mixture, remaining milk, egg, and oil. Knead into a smooth, supple dough. Cover and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, until doubled in size.

  2. Prepare the filling

Pass the sausage and garlic through a meat grinder, or finely chop them in a food processor, then mix with the softened Hera to make a spread. Peel the boiled potatoes.

  3. Shape the rolls

Divide the risen dough into two portions and roll each into a rectangle about 5 mm thick. Spread with the sausage mixture, grate the potatoes over it, and sprinkle with cheese. Roll up the dough starting from a long side.

  4. Slice

Cut the logs diagonally into pieces about 3 cm wide and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush with the beaten egg yolk and sprinkle with cheese.

  5. Bake

Bake in an oven preheated to 180 °C (350 °F) for about 25 minutes, until golden brown.

Tip: Slice the rolls with a sharp knife or thread to keep from squashing them. You can use butter instead of Hera for a more delicate filling.
