Chicken and coleslaw sandwiches are a homemade alternative to fast food such as hamburgers and hot dogs. Pieces of chicken breast seasoned with caraway and thyme are pan-seared until tender. The slaw combines shredded white and red cabbage, carrot, and onion with vinegar, sugar, mayonnaise, and sour cream. The split rolls are spread with mayonnaise and filled with slaw and chicken. You can substitute another meat for the chicken, but it will take longer to cook.

Instructions
Tip: tap a step to mark it as done.
Cut the chicken breasts into pieces and place in a bowl. Season with salt and allspice, add ground caraway and thyme, toss to combine, and let stand briefly.
Coarsely grate both cabbages, the carrot, and the onion into a bowl. Add the vinegar, sugar, salt, allspice, mayonnaise, and sour cream, and mix the slaw thoroughly.
Pan-sear the chicken until tender. Split the rolls, spread with mayonnaise, fill with the slaw and chicken, and serve.
Tip: Briefly toast the split rolls in a skillet, then place the meat on the bottom half and top with the slaw so the dressing does not immediately make the bread soggy.
