St. Nicholas Day treats
In Slovakia, children clean their boots and put them in the window on the evening of December 5 – in the morning they find sweets from St. Nicholas (Mikuláš). These homemade treats keep for several days and are easy to pack: Polish krówki, buttery caramels, meringues, honey cookies, Linzer cookies, coconut macaroons and candied almonds. Bake the soft yeast-dough St. Nicholas with raisin buttons a day ahead. All recipes are alcohol-free.
