This chilled salad combines rollmops (pickled herring rolls), boiled potatoes, pickles, and onion with mayonnaise and yogurt. In many Slovak families, it is served on Christmas Eve or New Year's Eve with bread or alongside fried carp. Let it chill in the refrigerator for at least two hours before serving.

Instructions
Tip: tap a step to mark it as done.
Boil the potatoes
40 minWash the potatoes and boil them with their skins on until tender, about 25 minutes. Drain, let cool, and peel.
Prepare the rollmops
10 minRemove the rollmops from the pickling liquid, let drain, and remove the toothpicks. Cut the fish and the onion inside the rolls into small pieces.
Chop the vegetables
10 minDice the potatoes, finely dice the pickles, and finely chop the onion.
Make the dressing
Mix the mayonnaise with the yogurt and mustard, then season with salt and pepper. Add salt sparingly, as the rollmops are already salty.
Chill the salad
2 hrGently toss all the ingredients with the dressing so the potatoes do not fall apart. Cover the salad and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
Tip: For a milder flavor, soak the rollmops in cold water for 10 minutes before cutting them up. The salad keeps in the refrigerator for two days.
