Caramel fudge with powdered milk and butter is a homemade candy made with five basic ingredients. First, dissolve the sugar in water and let it turn lightly brown, then stir in the butter, milk, and finally the powdered milk. Unlike store-bought caramels, you know exactly what goes into it. Serve it as a small treat for guests or something sweet with coffee.

Instructions

Tip: tap a step to mark it as done.

  1. Combine the water and sugar in a large pot and heat over low heat until the sugar dissolves completely.

  2. When the mixture starts to turn lightly brown, add the butter and stir until melted.

  3. Pour in the milk, stir, and add the powdered milk.

  4. Cook for 3 minutes, then remove from the heat and let cool.

Tip: Warm the milk before adding it—cold milk would cool the caramel abruptly, causing the sugar to form lumps and splatter more. Pour it in gradually.
