Crispy quark sticks with powdered sugar are a simple cheese dessert to serve to family or guests. The dough is made with thoroughly crumbled quark (farmer's cheese), an egg, sour cream, sugar, vanilla sugar, and three tablespoons of semi-coarse wheat flour, with baking soda and baking powder for leavening. After kneading the dough on a floured work surface, shape it into sticks.
Dust the finished sticks with powdered sugar. Enjoy them plain, or serve them with homemade jam for the kids.

Instructions
Tip: tap a step to mark it as done.
- Crumble the quark thoroughly so no lumps remain.
- In a deep bowl, combine the quark, egg, sour cream, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, salt, vanilla sugar, and flour. Mix thoroughly.
- Dust a work surface with flour and knead the dough on it.
- Roll the dough into thick ropes.
- Cut the ropes into sticks of your desired length.
- Pan-fry the sticks on all sides until golden brown.
- Dust the finished sticks with powdered sugar and serve.
- Serve with sour cream or homemade jam, if desired.
Tip: Dry, crumbly quark works better than soft quark sold in tubs, which would make the dough too loose with so little flour. Turn the sticks carefully using two forks, as the soft dough breaks easily.
