Make homemade flour tortillas with just four ingredients: all-purpose flour, lard, salt, and lukewarm water. Shape the smooth, fairly firm dough into twelve balls and let them rest for half an hour. Then roll each one into a round about 17 cm in diameter and cook on a hot skillet for just 30 to 45 seconds per side. They are a homemade alternative to store-bought tortillas containing preservatives.

Instructions
Tip: tap a step to mark it as done.
- Mix the flour, lard, and salt in a bowl. Pour in the water and knead into a smooth, fairly firm dough.
- Divide the dough into 12 pieces, shape each into a ball, and let rest for 30 minutes.
- Roll each ball into a round approximately 17 cm in diameter. Cook the tortillas on a hot skillet for 30 to 45 seconds per side.
- Place the cooked tortillas on a clean kitchen towel.
Tip: Do not grease the skillet; flip each tortilla when bubbles puff up on the surface and brown spots appear underneath. Stack the cooked tortillas and cover with a kitchen towel to keep them soft and pliable.
