This savory strudel starts with a sheet of puff pastry spread with ketchup and layered with ham, salami, and bacon. Tomato and corn go down the center, topped with Edam cheese, oregano, and a pinch of ground chili. The short ends are folded in, then the pastry is rolled up, brushed with egg, and baked. Enjoy it warm or lukewarm.

Instructions

Tip: tap a step to mark it as done.

  1. Prepare the pastry

Roll the puff pastry into a thin rectangle and spread with ketchup.

  2. Add the filling

Arrange the ham, salami, and bacon over the pastry. Slice the tomato and arrange it with the corn down the center. Top with grated cheese and sprinkle with oregano and ground chili.

  3. Roll up

Fold the short ends inward to keep the filling inside, then roll up the strudel starting from a long side. Transfer to parchment paper and brush with beaten egg.

  4. Bake

Bake in an oven preheated to 190 °C (375 °F) for about 20–25 minutes, until golden brown on the bottom as well.

Tip: Dry the corn and tomato well to keep the strudel from becoming soggy inside. Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing so the cheese can set and the filling won't spill out.
