This savory wafer pyramid with ham, salami and cheese is a savory take on a popular Slovak triangular dessert made with BeBe cookies and bananas. First, wrap the wafer sheets in a damp towel to soften them so they can bend. Then spread them with a mixture of sour cream, soft cheese and mayonnaise, and fill them with ham, salami, carrots and Parmesan. The assembled pyramid is ideal for parties and cold appetizer platters.

Instructions

Tip: tap a step to mark it as done.

  1. Cut 2 wafer sheets in half. Wrap three of the smaller wafer sheets in a damp towel to soften them and make them flexible.

  2. Wrap the large wafer sheet in a damp towel as well and let it sit for a little while. Meanwhile, prepare the spread.

  3. Mix the sour cream, soft cheese and mayonnaise until smooth, then spread the mixture over each wafer sheet.

  4. Arrange the ham on the first smaller wafer sheet, the salami on the second, and the cooked carrots, cut into small pieces, on the third. Roll up the wafer sheets.

  5. Place the rolls on the large wafer sheet, with two on the bottom and one on top. Add the remaining spread, reserving a little for the top, and fold the wafer sheet around the rolls to form a triangle.

  6. Coat the top with the reserved spread, sprinkle with grated Parmesan and serve.

Tip: Wring out the towel well so it is only damp; overly wet wafers could tear when rolled. If you have time, refrigerate the finished pyramid for a few hours so the filling firms up and is easier to slice.
