Adamove ústa, meaning “Adam’s mouth,” is a cocoa cake with round cookies sandwiched with jam tucked into the batter before baking. When sliced, the cookies resemble lips. The batter starts with margarine, sugar, cocoa powder, and water cooked together. Once cooled, the mixture is combined with egg yolks, flour, and beaten egg whites. Vanilla pudding buttercream and a cocoa glaze finish the cake.

Instructions

Tip: tap a step to mark it as done.

  1. Make the batter

Bring the margarine, sugar, cocoa powder, and water to a boil and cook for about 5 minutes, stirring frequently. Let cool. Separate the eggs. Gradually stir the yolks into the cooled mixture, then stir in the flour sifted with the baking powder. Beat the egg whites with a pinch of salt until stiff peaks form, then gently fold them into the batter.

  2. Add the cookies

Sandwich the cookies in pairs with jam. Pour the batter into a parchment-lined baking pan, about 38 × 24 cm, and arrange the cookie sandwiches evenly in the batter.

  3. Bake

Bake in an oven preheated to 170–180 °C (340–350 °F) for 30–40 minutes. Let the cake cool, then drizzle it with the water mixed with the lemon juice.

  4. Make the filling

Stir the pudding mix into half a glass of milk. Bring the remaining milk to a boil with the sugar and 50 g of the butter, pour in the pudding mixture, and cook briefly. Let cool. Beat the remaining softened butter, then gradually beat in the pudding until smooth. Spread the filling over the cake.

  5. Make the glaze

Pour the boiling water over the gelatin and let it bloom. Heat the margarine, sugar, cocoa powder, and cream until melted and combined, then stir in the gelatin. Pour the glaze over the filling and refrigerate the cake until set.

Tip: Sandwich the cookies with just a thin layer of jam and place them gently in the batter; they will sink on their own as the cake bakes. Wait until the glaze has fully set before slicing the cake.
